Who We Are
The Tabonuco Support Group is a support community for parents who love and care for adult children struggling with substance use and addiction. Inspired by the Tabonuco tree—renowned for its resilience and interconnected roots—we offer a safe, compassionate space to share, learn, and heal.
Why “Tabonuco”?
Growing on steep, rocky mountainsides, Tabonuco trees survive hurricanes and adversity by intertwining their roots with those of neighboring trees. This living network provides stability, nourishment, and strength, even when individual roots cannot reach deep on their own.
In the same way, our group believes that no one should face the storms of addiction alone. Through mutual support, we become a network—helping one another stand firm and find hope, even in difficult times.

Meeting Structure
Each session includes:
- A grounding meditation or quieting exercise
- Brief educational topic
- Group sharing and mutual support
- Coping skill or self-care practice
- Closing reflection and acknowledgment
You are welcome to participate at your own comfort level.
Our Symbol
The Tabonuco tree’s intertwined roots remind us that healing and endurance are possible when we stand together—rooted in compassion, understanding, and shared experience.
