At Atlas Counseling and Trauma Services, we believe in the power of connection to transform lives. Group therapy is a unique opportunity to discover your strength, share your journey, and find encouragement alongside others who are facing similar challenges. Whether you’re new to counseling or looking to deepen your growth, our groups are designed to empower individuals and foster lasting change.
Why Join a Group?
It’s often said that there’s strength in numbers. While opening up in a group may feel daunting at first, many are surprised by how rewarding and supportive the experience can be. For some concerns, group therapy is even more effective than individual sessions—offering new perspectives, practical skills, and a sense of belonging that can be deeply healing.
Our groups are led by skilled counselors and interns who are passionate about creating safe, welcoming spaces for growth. Explore our current and upcoming groups below, and take the next step in your journey to transformation.
three types of groups
01 Skills Groups
Join our Skills Groups to learn and practice proven strategies for managing life’s challenges. Whether you want to improve communication, manage stress, or build emotional resilience, our facilitators will guide you through practical exercises and supportive discussions.
Definition & Purpose:
Skills groups are structured, goal-oriented sessions designed to teach practical tools and strategies for managing specific challenges. These groups often focus on areas such as emotional regulation, coping skills, communication, stress management, or relapse prevention. Led by trained facilitators, skills groups provide a supportive environment where participants can learn, practice, and reinforce new skills that enhance their daily functioning and overall well-being.
02 Support Groups
Our Support Groups provide a welcoming space to connect with others who understand your journey. Share your story, listen to others, and find encouragement and community as you navigate life’s challenges together.
Definition & Purpose:
Support groups offer a safe, compassionate space for individuals who share similar experiences or challenges to connect, share, and receive encouragement. These groups focus on mutual support, understanding, and validation rather than formal therapy or skill-building. Participants benefit from knowing they are not alone, gaining insight from others’ experiences, and building a sense of community and belonging.
03 Process Groups
Experience personal growth in our Process Groups, where you’ll explore your feelings and relationships in a supportive, therapeutic environment. Guided by a skilled clinician, you’ll gain insight, build connections, and develop healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.
Definition & Purpose:
Process groups are therapeutic gatherings where members explore their thoughts, feelings, and interpersonal dynamics in real time. Facilitated by a clinician, these groups foster self-awareness, emotional expression, and relational growth. Process groups emphasize the “here and now,” helping participants understand themselves and others better, improve communication, and develop healthier relationships.
